There is a common misconception that introverted women cannot be influential leaders. On the contrary, extroverts are believed to have excellent networking skills and are good public speakers. The two qualities are the fundamental necessities to becoming an effective leader. Introverts and extroverts have different personalities and exhibit different behavior in instances of conflict, communication, and leadership styles. Introverts tend to be quiet and unassuming.  However, studies have revealed that any personality type can be successful.

Characteristics of Introverted Women

Indeed, introverted women are shy, but they have certain qualities which make them effective leaders. Let us discuss how introverted women make effective leaders.

They are Good Listeners

Listening is one of the most effective skills and traits that a leader should master. Introverted women are good listeners.  They hear other people’s opinions and allow them to express theirs. Introverted women showcase genuine curiosity and ask questions that show involvement. Employees feel more valued and respected when they are heard.

It has been further found that introverts not only listen when others speak, but people also tend to listen to them when they speak. Introverts take a long time to contribute but make valid points when they speak. They take time to develop their thought processes, which help them become an influential leader.

They are Calm

Introverted women have calm personalities. It is expected behavior that when one person is stressed out in the team, others tend to develop the same feelings. In such situations, introverts maintain their composure. Introverted female leaders are understanding and empathetic. In case of crisis, they keep their senses together. Rather than being anxious, they work hard to find solutions.

They Do Not Micromanage

Introverted female leaders are humble and allow everyone to participate equally. They let their employees take complete ownership of their work. The role of an effective leader is to provide guidance, not micromanage. When a leader micromanages, it decreases the morale of the employees.

The impact of micromanagement can be damaging and reduces productivity levels. Introverted female leaders follow a balanced approach and let their employees take the lead. This is one of the important qualities that introverted women possess, making them better leaders.

They Think Deeply

Introverts are deep thinkers and take good time to understand the things around them. They are not bossy and do not push their thought processes onto other employees. They not only let others shine but take time out to think deeply about their goals and challenges. An introverted leader will follow a balanced approach and present ideas in an effective manner.

They compare competitors and analyze various challenges that could be an obstacle. Most introverts tend to rehearse before speaking. Therefore, there are fewer chances that their words will hurt someone. They take into consideration all the factors and always try to empathize with people of different backgrounds. Introverts do not make quick decisions and are not interested in grabbing attention.

They Prefer Quality Connections

It is indeed believed that extroverts are good at speaking and tend to have excellent networking skills. On the contrary, one cannot deny that introverts prefer making more quality connections. Introverted female leaders take time to make connections. They always prioritize making meaningful connections. This is what networking is all about. Networking is not having a bunch of contacts or mentors. It is about having meaningful connections with industry experts to whom you can reach out.

They are Detail-Oriented

Introverted women are more focused and detail-oriented. They take their time and approach to understand everything carefully. Most introverts do not complete their tasks in a hurry or within a short period of time. Introverted leaders always make decisions with certainty and think before coming to a judgment.

They do not jump to conclusions. Instead, they take a chance they are comfortable with. Great leaders always have excellent decision-making skills, and introverts are born with this quality. Besides this, introverts are great at problem-solving. It is an entrepreneur’s or a leader’s most compelling trait.

Final Thoughts

There is no doubt that extroverts are more confident in expressing themselves. Introverted women are equipped with such qualities, which undoubtedly contribute to their leadership skills. There are many females who are introverts but have become influential leaders. Introverted women can be highly beneficial to an organization. The ability to think before speaking is another excellent quality that makes them influential leaders.
