From Corporate America to Entrepreneurship: The Journey of Monica Joy Tackitt

The COVID-19 pandemic had unexpected outcomes for many. In 2020, the U.S. Bureau of Statistics recorded a record-breaking number of new business formations, despite the looming threat of an economic downturn. With widespread business closures and job losses, many individuals were compelled to seek new solutions and create their own opportunities. Businesses that weathered the pandemic had to pivot to virtual and remote work models, leading to a rise in freelancing, self-employment, and the gig economy.

As Harriet Tubman famously said, every great dream begins with a dreamer. Monica has always been someone who believed in the power of her dreams since childhood. Her growth over the years is a testament to her resilient spirit.

Resilience and hard work are essential ingredients for success, and no one knows this better than Monica Joy Tackitt. She has navigated her way through various roles in corporate America, from the receptionist to executive assistant to IT Project Manager, and finally to launching her own company, The Talently, that provides coaching services to entrepreneurs and creatives.

Monica’s Journey from COVID Layoff to Business Success

During the COVID pandemic, Monica Joy Tackitt was laid off from her job. Rather than be defeated, she turned the situation into an opportunity to start her own business. Now, she is the founder and head coach of two businesses that have positively impacted the lives of many people.

ITS’ MONICA was initially meant to be a freelancing platform, but it has grown into a coaching and consulting firm that helps entrepreneurs start and scale their businesses. With over twenty years of experience in VA coaching, Monica’s expertise is effective and result-oriented.

Helping VAs Tap into Their Inner Power and Grow

For Monica, communication is the key to success in healthy business relationships. Being a great and efficient communicator allows for meaningful conversations that produce results. She also guides new and upcoming VAs to tap into their inner power and grow by figuring out their talents and passions.

Out of all the coaching services she offers, helping VAs find their way in the industry is Monica’s favorite. Having been a VA for over 20 years, she understands the challenges that come with the job and is passionate about sharing her gift with the world.

Founding “The Talently” to Help Entrepreneurs

Monica’s other firm, The Talently, is a passion-driven company that focuses on helping people help people. The company offers innovative strategies to entrepreneurs and creatives to elevate their businesses. It also provides business coaches to mental health practitioners focused on helping others who may need it.

At “The Talently”, Monica offers VA services that differ from client to client. She believes in embracing diversity and investing in her staff, who are mentored by coaches. This allows them to approach each client with a unique strategy that maximizes their benefits from the services offered.

Knowing When to Say No: The Toughest Challenge for Small Business Owners

Monica’s journey to entrepreneurship was not without its challenges. Losing her job during the pandemic was a wake-up call for her to embark on a journey of self-discovery. However, by focusing on her passion for helping others and staying resilient, she was able to navigate the challenges of starting her own business and reach where she is today.

Monica believes that the toughest challenge for small business owners these days is knowing when to say no. It can be tempting to compromise in the beginning to gain clients, but it’s important to keep your eyes on the prize and set things right in the long run.

Advice for Women in Entrepreneurship: Embrace Your Journey

For women who want to get into entrepreneurship, Monica’s advice is to embrace their journey and not compare themselves to others. Learning never stops, and it’s important to stay humble and stay grounded in your passion while praising God.

Monica’s journey from corporate America to business and VA coaching is a testament to the power of resilience, passion, and diversity in the workplace. Her advice and services have helped many entrepreneurs and creatives elevate their businesses and tap into their inner power, making her a valuable asset in the coaching industry.
