Whether you adore Lady Gaga or hate her, you can’t deny what she has achieved as an artist and performer. She has earned herself various music awards and accolades for her contribution and efforts in the music industry. Gaga has even received various Grammy awards, National Arts Awards’ Young Artist Award, and fourteen Guinness World Records for her contribution. She is one of the celebrities with the most devoted and loyal fans who buy her concert tickets and products. We genuinely believe that there’s so much to her which makes her unique. However, her startup failed due to management and other issues. Yet she is a star, and we truly believe that there is so much that startups should learn from her. Continue reading for five critical lessons that startups can learn from the singing sensation – Lady Gaga.

1. Know your audience

Lady Gaga knows her audience and is well-acquainted with how she should prioritize them. She has a fan base of different age groups who may not feel acquainted with one another. However, she understands them well and connects with them through her music. There is a high focus on the 1% of the followers who are her die-hard fans. Although they are less in percentage, she understands the value they share in her life. They are actually that group of audience that will further bring new fans. Similarly, startups should focus on knowing their audience and plan different strategies on how they can connect well with their audiences.

2. Take a personal approach

There is no doubt that people connect with people. Lately, we have also seen brands getting real and building personal connections with their audiences. Talking about Lady Gaga, she utilizes her experience and learnings from life to connect with her audiences. She felt like an outcast in her early phase of life. However, she learned from her personal experiences and turned them into a medium to connect with others. Startups should also take a unique approach and talk about their learning. It will help in building stronger relationships with your audiences.

3. Lead with values

Lady Gaga stands up firmly for the issues and values she believes in. She stands up for people who feel left out and bullied. This approach has also increased her fan base and helped her connect with several people on a deeper level. We understand that it is not easy for everyone to stand up for their beliefs and disagree with others’ judgments. However, brands also need to have a brand voice. You will only be able to achieve customer loyalty when you build specific values. This is why startups need to focus on and value their approaches. They should not feel ashamed of disagreeing with certain beliefs.

4. Build community

Lady Gaga differs in her approach to how she treats her fans and audiences. She has also created a network and community of her die-hard fans. LittleMonsters.com is a community dedicated to its fans where they are free to set up profiles, can post particular messages, share fan arts, etc. The fans even have the freedom to participate in chat discussions. She has given her fan base a name and identity, providing them with a sense of belongingness. Startups should also take this approach and focus on building communities. It will make your audience feel connected, which will further help you.

5. Take risks

You will always see Lady Gaga donning different looks and styles. She always brings a bold approach which even helps her make a statement. She is always fresh, and exciting and leaves a memorable image. Startups should also take note of this and ensure that their products or services are remarkable. Make sure your products/ services stand out and create their own identity.

The star has an unwavering attitude and never gives up despite facing challenges. Startups should take lessons from the performer and incorporate these ideas into their strategies and business plans. Learn from these takeaways and build your community of loyal fans.
