Dr. Charryse Johnson, an esteemed author, speaker, and veteran psychotherapist, has been recognized as the Mental Health Advocate of the Year by the Female Voice Awards by WomELLE for 2023. She founded Jade Integrative Counseling and Wellness, where she integrates wellness, neuroscience, and mental health to foster personal growth and healing.

Career and Academic

Dr. Johnson possesses a rich academic background with a B.A. in Vocal Music and Human Development and Family Studies, an M.A. in Professional Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology specializing in crisis and trauma. Her extensive training includes neurorelational approaches like mindfulness, brainspotting, and somatic integration. 

As a clinician, Dr. Johnson’s expertise spans working with individuals, couples, and families, adeptly guiding them through life transitions and identity development. She has also made significant contributions in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and group therapy settings. As an executive wellness consultant, she aids non-profits, educational institutions, and corporations in developing strategic initiatives focused on leadership, inclusivity, and emotional well-being. 

Achievements and Contributions

Dr. Johnson’s first book, Expired Mindsets, released in August 2021, earned her recognition as one of the 10 Authors to Watch in 2022 by The American Reporter. She is a soughtafter keynote speaker and panelist, addressing topics like corporate wellness, mental health, and interpersonal effectiveness at global summits. 

A respected mental health expert, Dr. Johnson frequently advises news stations in Charlotte, NC, and surrounding areas. Her role as an Executive Contributor for BRAINZ Magazine allows her to share her insights on integrating mental health principles into various aspects of lifestyle, leadership, and personal development. Dr. Charryse Johnson’s unique blend of education, clinical experience, and personal approach to mental health advocacy positions her as a dynamic force in the field.
